I did my medical training through the University of Cape Town (UCT). I worked as a GP and a bush doctor in the Sabi Sands Reserve for a short time period before specializing in Psychiatry at Valkenberg, Lentegeur and Groote Schuur Hospitals. I subsequently worked both in the State System as well as in private practice. This included managing the in-patient unit for children with Psychiatric Disorders and developing services for and treating adolescents with similar needs.
